Physical Education Expectations:
- Excused absences may be made up for credit. Students must make arrangements with the teacher to make up excused absences on their own initiative. Absences must be made up within one week or before the end of the quarter, which ever is the shorter time period.
- No student will be excused from class for a medical excuse unless he or she has a written excuse from either their family physician, the school nurse, parent, or guardian. Credit for these days can be achieved by following the excused absence policy. These days must be made up to receive credit.
- One class day missed and not made up will result in a 10-point loss. You have one week from that day to get it made up for credit. In order to get credit for it, you must have a note from your parents stating you did 45 minutes of physical activity.
- Tardies: You will be marked tardy if you are not in the gym or locker room when the bell rings. You will be marked tardy if you are not in line ready for roll 4 minutes after the bell rings. For every tardy you have, you will lose 5 points from your final grade. Example: 3 tardies in one quarter, you will lose 15 points. Excessive tardies will result in detentions.
- Dress Cuts: Dress cuts are NOT allowed. On the first dress cut, you will be required to write a 3 PAGE PAPER on a topic of my choice to be turned in by the end of the class period. A paper not completed will result in a detention. On a dress cut, NO CREDIT is given for that day, and cannot be made up. The second dress cut, the penalty doubles. . . etc.
- NO gum or candy may be eaten during the class period or in the gym or locker area.
- NO running or horseplay in the locker rooms or gym.
- NO locks will be opened except for the person to whom the lock is checked out to.
- Students will be charged $5.00 for a lost lock.
- NO headbands are allowed during physical education class.
- Students will not be allowed to participate in class if they lack the proper attire, which is as follows:
- Gym shorts - need to be worn on the hips - NO boxers for shorts - boxers cannot show above the shorts.
- T-shirt - not torn or with offensive pictures or writing - no tank tops
- Athletic socks
- Tennis shoes - must have shoe strings in and tied - absolutely no sandals or Croc's
- Keep a warm-up jacket and pants in your locker for cool days. Always be prepared to go outside.
- GRADES: For every class period you attend, you will receive 10 points. Any number of points may be taken away for tardies, dress cuts, not following the rules, and inappropriate behavior. Written tests will be given throughout the quarter. Class points and test points will be totaled and figured into a percentage for a final grade.
- I do not allow students to make up any work missed when suspended or expelled. You will receive NO CREDIT for those days!
- NO CLIMBING the bleachers when they are in a stacked position.
