Southeast Nebraska Consolidated received a grant from NASA in 2006 that entered
them into a partnership with the space agency for three years. The NASA Explorer School
program is designed to increase the interest of students in math and science.
Grant funds were used for purchasing communications equipment; and teachers have been receiving training each summer at several of the agency's training facilities. On October
26th, 2006, Southeast celebrated the partnership with a kickoff program which featured several NASA employees, including retired astronaut Roger Crouch.

Since working with NASA, Southeast Consolidated has uplinked to scientists in Antarctica and
has also applied to link up to the Clay Anderson flight this summer. Mike McGlone, NASA Educational
Specialist, has assisted with numerous workshops at the school as well.
